It's Been Awhile

Wow, has it almost been 2 weeks since my last post?? The year of 2008 is already flying by way too fast....I just can't quite keep up.

To share with you all of the details as to why I've been absent would certainly bore you to tears so I'll skip the excuses part. However, I will share a few of the more interesting things that have gone on here in the Prairie of Dardenne.

My last post was about our odd weather. I had no idea when I wrote that post that our odd weather would hang around for awhile.

As forecasted on January 29th, 2008, out temps did drop to a very cold 15 degrees. However, that didn't prevent this little guy from sitting atop the tree in my front yard the next morning...in fact, despite the cold and the dreary skies, I thought to myself, "maybe an early spring is on it's way."

However, the next morning, Old Man Winter crushed any hope that I had for an early spring. He managed to drop about 10 inches of snow in my yard.

The next thing I know...the snow is melting quickly due to our temps rising into the mid-40's low-50's. In fact a few days after our snowfall, I was driving home from an appointment only to run into a horrible thunderstorm that produced tons of lightening and very loud thunder. The skies were green and it ended up dumping the most pea-sized hail I've ever seen fall at one time.

Of course, this was just the result of a warm front colliding with a cold front.

SURPRISE!! The cold front won it's battle with the warm front and now our temperatures are right where they should be for this time of year.....a brisk 30 degrees or so.

This morning when I walked outside into the cold air; I recognized something and it renewed my hope for an early spring.....take a look at who came back

for a visit....

So now what I need to know is if this bird is a purple finch or a house finch...anyone want to answer that for me??

All Four Seasons Expected Here Today

On any other January 29th day in the St. Louis, area, you might expect very cold temperatures and even possible snow and/or sleet.Today, however, is very unique. Today as I was driving home from the grocery store, I'm pretty sure that I heard the local weatherman say that we should expect high's in the 70's and sunny; thunderstorms producing possible tornadoes; and also sleet and snow when we hit our low of 15 degrees. Oh, and let us not forget, winds gusting to 60 mph. Other cities claim to have very changeable weather but I think St. Louis won the blue ribbon for today.

A man was in his front yard mowing grass when his attractive blonde female neighbor came out of the house and went straight to the mailbox. She opened it then slammed it shut and stormed back in the house. A little later she came out of her house again went to the mail box and again, opened it, slammed it shut again. A blonde calls her boyfriend and says, "Please come over here and help me. I have a killer jigsaw puzzle, and I can't figure out how to get it started. Her boyfriend asks, "What is it supposed to be when it's finished?"
The blonde says, "According to the picture on the box, it's a tiger."
Her boyfriend decides to go over to her house and help with the puzzle. She lets him in and shows him that she has the puzzle spread all over the table.

Well isn't it just my luck to try and begin a blog once again and an evil bug bites my family. Didn't I just tell my friend the other day that we've been unusually healthy this year? I guess that's what I shouldn't have done.....bragged!! If I mention anything positive about the health of myself, my hubby or my kids; it never fails because I'm quickly proven wrong. That's one of things that I plan on asking God about when I get to Heaven.Good news is that I've stayed healthy enough to take care of everyone. Bad news is I'm beat. What's even worse is that hubby caught this bug and he's more work when he's sick than both of the kids put together.Anyway, I just wanted to warn all of my mass readers out there that if you don't hear from me again for several days; I'm going to be sick this weekend...really, really sick!(do ya think reverse psychology works on kharma? Let's hope so!)

A New Year.....

Well, it's January 13, 2008 and I'm just getting around to my only new year resolution. I promised myself that I would begin yet, another, blog and see it through for at least a year. Yes, I've blogged before....my first blog was called "To Whom It May Concern"....that blog lasted close to a year but I ran out of things to say. I've started other blogs, none worth mentioning, but this blog is going to be different because it's an election year and I always like to talk about politics. Don't get me wrong, I'm no political expert, but I will give my opinion whether anyone wants to hear it or not. It's even okay to disagree with what I have to say but there are some issues that no one will ever change my mind about.Politics will not be the only thing I blog about. I have a family that I love and enjoy mentioning from time to time. Oh, and it's amazing some of the things I get myself into. I lost my Mom to cancer almost a year ago so I may talk about her from time to time. Who knows what's going to end up on here...there are no promises but I hope that I enjoy my blog as much as you will.
